It comes as to no surprise to many people that HTC will be releasing the Nexus One Google phone. After all, it was HTC that released the very first Android phone, the HTC Dream. But before the Taiwanese company was ever a part of Google’s grand scheme to conquer the mobile phone industry, HTC was originally focusing on developing devices using Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system; and prior to that, the company had its own local hurdles to face.

HTC Before Google

HTC Corporation originally stood for High Tech Computer Corporation –the name was later changed to just HTC. The company started operations back in 1997 and have been continuously contributing innovations to technology. HTC was the very first company to produce a colored palm-sized PC back in 1999. The company got its first major break when it was selected as Microsoft’s hardware platform development partner for Windows Mobile.

From 2000 to 2006, HTC has been developing many “first” Windows devices for the market such as the very first Windows Pocket PC to the very first Microsoft 3G device. With the partnership with Microsoft, HTC’s profits continued to grow. The growth of the company was not just entirely because of Microsoft, HTC also developed many major devices of their own as well.
