This was my second HDTV, not the first time rear projection unit. The picture is bright and beautiful from July 2007 to January 2010, that the point of red light burned. On-line surveys to look at the picture, blue-green, I found that the brand and model of the Samsung had this problem all the time.

In fact, I was very happy that lasted 2.5 years. Some people have to happen just after 12, 15 or 18 months.

Red LEDs can be obtained for about $ 100, but four weeks to backorder it. Something tells me that there is another indication that a common problem. I could buy a small motor for $ 1,000, but it would be thrown to another great meeting, that he still has a weak red light.

If you don’t need a super thin TV set, this set has an amazing picture at an even better price point. When compared to similarly featured LCD and Plasma sets, you simply cannot beat the price of this TV. The resolution and color rendering are the best I have personally seen. I only have a standard DVD player, but plan to upgrade to an upconverting or HD disk player in the near future. With a standard RGB input from my DVD player, the picture is still very good. I saw a demo set in Circuit City with a Blue Ray player hooked up and that was what put the final nail in my coffin. WOW!

I was afraid that the “limited viewing angle” would be a big problem for when I have guests over and we all wanted to watch, but was pleasantly surprised at how wide it actually is.

The LED light engine makes this set cooler and less noisy than other DLP televisions and also the brightness is unbelievable. I actually had to reduce the brightness setting to ease the stress on my eyes. The LED’s are also supposed to last the life of the TV so I am not worried about the cost of replacing a bulb every couple of years.

If you want a great TV without breaking the bank, drop your money here. I can promise that you won’t be disappointed.

-TV has worked flawlessly. We love the picture quality. Easily viewable from greater angles than I expected. Picture is not washed out by lots of sunlight.
-Delivery guy was great. He called to set up appointment to deliver, calling me again before arriving to give me time to get home. After bringing it in and setting it up, he helped us connect it to our other components. (I think it was delivered by Eagle Trucking.)
-Purchase experience from Amazon couldn’t possibly have gone better. I was unable to follow the tracking info for the trucking company. Emailed Amazon about it and had personal and immediate attention to help me figure out the delivery situation. There were 2 price drops during my 30-day “grace period” which I emailed Amazon about. Had a refund of the drop amount and an email informing me within a day.

One of the best all-around buying experiences I’ve ever had!

I ordered my 56″ Samsung LED DLP television after months and months of debating which HD display technology to embrace. I had seen many beautiful plasma, LCD and DLP screens, but ultimately, the size, price and performance of Samsung’s HLTXX87SAX series displays convinced me that LED DLP was the way to go. On Tuesday afternoon, I ordered the HLT5687SAX (my wife talked me down from ordering the 61″ model), and the following Monday, the delivery truck was in front of my house, and our huge, new television was on the truck’s lift gate. The driver brought it to our front door, and then lifted it, with one hand, across the threshold. “Power On Test” was checked on his manifest, and he happily unboxed it, and helped me lift it onto our newly inadequate TV stand. I hooked up our XBox360 via the TV’s SVGA port, and powered them both on. The TV quickly sensed the active source at the correct resolution (1080p), and we were amazed at the clarity of the XBox360′s logo. I thanked the driver and my wife and I watched as he drove away. We went back inside and proceeded to really test drive our new HDTV. We networked our XBox360 to our Windows XP computer and started playing 1080p source material over CAT5. We sat back astonished at the clarity and filmic quality of some of the footage from a recent series of documentaries. Even standard DVDs like “The Station Agent,” “Rushmore,” and the Star Wars movies look amazing. I couldn’t stop smiling as I watched the Red Squadron descend on the Death Star. That scene hasn’t made me giddy in 20 years. Anyway, I think it would be hard for anyone to be disappoointed by this television set. It looks beautiful, sleek and modern when it’s off. And when it’s on, it has the power to transform a well-worn classic into an exhilarating new experience. I’m still smiling.

Second Chance

4 years ago I bought a Samsung 42″ Dlp Television and it was great when it worked, but I constantly had issues with fan noise, the color wheel etc. When my son was born, I stayed home for a few weeks to help out.. Of course the Samsung dies in the middle of an all nighter with a gassy baby..

I decided to give Samsung another try and I am definately impressed with the Samsung HLT5687SAX 56-inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV. I was blown away by the crisp picture low fan noise and the piano finish. Amazon was about 0 less than anyone local and with free shipping the price was to good too pass up..

I gave the product 4 stars because I am still angry that I had to buy another Samsung after only 4 years..

Long story short, if you are tired of fooling with Color Wheels and replacement bulbs I would definately give this product a look..

I have been looking to replace my Sceptre LCD TV that has failed for the second time, deciding upon Sammy’s HLT-xx87 if I could find one for a decent price. This 5687 from Amazon’s subsidiary, warehouse_deals, is a wonderful TV. A 50″ unit would have been fine but I got pushed into a larger size by a friend. I have no complaints, other than dust clinging to the bezel. But I can’t say anything about its up-converting abilities as hasn’t been explored yet.

I bought this after returning the Samsung 2010 46 “Sony EX500. Where Sony quality standards for me, but something is really out of AMIS in recent years. Televison simply do not have a deep level of black and white, which makes a striking picture. Other than that, this model from Samsung has been to reduce the screen size, but large increase in quality. 

The picture is amazing. Although there are some problems with traffic very quickly and create “artifacts”, the picture quality is excellent. Back-lighting LED is new in my house, and so was not sure what to expect. Blacks are in ink and bright eyes burn when you turn the brightness. Compared to Sony, changing channels is very fast and the remote feels lighter and has more intuitive layout. What’s interesting to me is that Samsung manufactures this image is much more fluid than what I experienced on another TV. Regardless of the difference in their offerings of video processing, which I like. This may sound strange, but if you look at the Samsung for almost any other manufacturer, you will be able to remember more than you see in the picture. Perhaps the image is easier on the eye, but in the end it “just works”. 

Do not expect that everything is perfect yet. Very fast moving scenes, “artifact”, the problems are evident. There is also the problem of the unity of the screen of my device, where the bottom right and left tend the tree with the light when the screen should be in a deep black and bright LED. (Dear Samsung: If you repair the unit, I got my results from four to five stars). 

In general, I recommend the TV consumer looking for an investment of 3-5 years in television. 3-D TV is the next big thing, but if you do not spend a fortune to return from the creators of 3-D development cost of TV, the TV for you.

Worth the money!

I purchased this Samsung after returning a 2010 46″ Sony EX500. Sony was always a standard in quality for me, but something has really gone amis in the past few years. The television just lacked the deep black levels and crisp whites that make an impressive picture. That aside, this model Samsung was a downgrade in screen size, but a big increase in quality. 

The picture is amazing. Although there are some issues with extremely fast movement, creating “artifacts”, the picture quality is superb. The LED back-lighting is new in my household, so we weren’t sure what to expect. The blacks are inky, and the brights could sear eyeballs if you turn the brightness to maximum. Compared to the Sony, changing channels is super quick and the remote control feels lighter and has a more intuitive layout. What’s interesting to me is that the picture this Samsung produces is much smoother than what I’ve witnessed on any other TV. Whatever the difference their video-processing provides, I like it. This may sounds strange, but if you stare at this Samsung, versus almost any other maker, you’ll be able to recall more of what you saw in the picture. Maybe the picture is easier on your eyes, but in the end it “just works”. 

Don’t expect everything to be perfect though. In extremely fast scenes, the “artifact” issues are noticeable. There is also a screen uniformity issue on my unit where the bottom right and left tend to bloom with light when the screen should be deep black and the LED back-light is on. (Dear Samsung: if you can fix my unit, I’ll up my score from FOUR stars to FIVE). 

Overall, I would recommend this television for consumers looking for a 3-5 year television investment. 3-D televisions are going to be the next big thing, but if you don’t want to spend a fortune paying off 3-D TV makers development costs, this is the TV for you.
