You know what’s really fucking odd? About two minutes into this video, I randomly started thinking of “We Will Fall” by The Stooges, then out of nowhere comes Iggy Pop. I about shit myself, lol.

Conny Plank was a god. RIP. He produced so many great bands and records – and not just German bands.

  14. TheGreaterGood80 Says:

Anyone else uncomfortable with the term “krautrock”? I’m not even German and I feel leery about using it, it’s a wartime ethnic slur anyway you look at it.

@godsaway0 second tire meaning that, in the cosmic scheme of things, they don’t seem all that special……….can and amon duul2 not only had more of a connection to rock, but can be redisovered on several levels, something bands like faust/cluster/popol/neu/dream/kraft didn’t seem capable of…….of course what i’m saying could be defined within’ general (and relatively recent) music history and many of these artists may have been far more pioneering than i’m giving them credit for..

  16. godsaway0 Says:

@posthumanhero He is definitely talking about Klaus Dinger. Second tier, does is say so on the Krautrock wikipedia page or something? Deferring opinion?

@earinsound neu are ok for my guitar practices…….lol………..…can, and i don’t think many would argue, have much more going on rhtythmically and keywise — wait: what key are can playing in?……..lol………….yea, i really don’t think neu are all that good and never understood this bowie/eno fixation with bleak grey linear germany or kraftwork — much prefer the depth and imagination of duul doing their jeffersoniairplane meets european classical meets world music thing or can.

second tier? maybe so. o’d consider agitation free or jane to be second tier. i do prefer CAN, but those flowing songs of Neu! are really wonderful.
